How to Build a Minimalist Wardrobe

Today I'm sharing tips on how to build a minimalist wardrobe. Imagine the closet pack up with basic, classic pieces that you can mix & match and create hundreds of effortlessly chic outfits in no time! Getting dressed for any occasion will never get easier.

1. Clean up and organize your closet
First thing you should do is to take an inventory of the pieces you already own. Do you wear it on a regular basis? If not, why it's taking space in your closet? Get rid off the clothes that you don’t really like, don’t fit that well or haven’t been worn for months. Cleaning up may not be fun but it will help you to figure out what you wear the most and what else you need to build a fabulous minimalist wardrobe.

2. Create a shopping list and set up your monthly budget
Write down what you really need to buy and go shopping. Concentrate on the basic, versatile items that you can mix & match with things that you already own. Set up a monthly budget to avoid over spending. Even just one new piece will make a difference! Building a minimalist wardrobe is a long term project but it will pay off at the end.

3. Accessorize, but keep it minimal
Dressing up an outfit with a few accessories can make a huge difference on the overall look, just make sure you don't over do it. Pay attention to details and remember, less is more. If you are wearing a statement necklace, stay minimal with other accessories. My favorite pieces of jewellery are dainty silver bracelets, bohemian rings and small earnings.
Scarves are a must-have for a minimalist wardrobe. Throw on a scarf and you'll get a completely different look in matter of seconds. Don't be afraid to experiment with different types of accessories until you find what works for you. Then wait for the seasonal sales and stock it up!

4. Repeat your favorite outfits
When you find that simple, perfect outfit that you feel most comfortable in, you want to wear it every single day. Well, you can. Repeat the outfit using a new combination of colors and accessories. That's an idea of a minimalist wardrobe : having clothes that you love and that you can easily mix & match into favorite outfits so you can look great and feel great... every single day.

Go ahead and clean you closet, you'll thank me later. Soon I will post about the key pieces for a minimalist wardrobe, so stay tuned!

Minimalist Style Essentials : Stripes

Stripes are essential for a style minimalist. You need to have a couple of stripe tees (long sleeve, short sleeve, tank tops) in your wardrobe. They're classic and look great with almost anything! Wearing a striped tee with jeans or leather pants is my favorite outfit combination. Although, I prefer narrow stripes rather than wide to stay minimal. Bellow is my collection from the recent closet inventory.

I must have a V-neck striped tee and I think I found the perfect one here. Looking forward to wear stripes under a lather jacket in the fall! How about you?

Birkenstock Madrid Sandals : A Review

Birkenstock Madrid sandals and I have a long history together. I've bought my first pair about 10 years ago. I was working in a bookstore and I wanted something comfortable and minimal. A friend suggested that I try Birkenstock's so I visited their local store to check out what they offer. I've tried many models, including popular Gizeh, but Madrid was the one that I liked the most. Although, I do have these Birkenstock Arizona sandals in Taupe Suede on my wishlist also. You can't have to much Birkenstock's, right :)? When you find something that you love and that fits you perfectly, stick to it!

Ever since, Birkenstock Madrid Sandals are my absolute favorite summer staple piece. They are simple and insanely comfortable! I wear them with denim shorts, skinny jeans or even with the black slim suit trousers. Mixing casual with fancier items looks great if is done properly.

If you are buying Birkenstock's sandals for the time, keep in mind that the fit is generous so you should buy the size smaller. This spring I bought two pairs on Amazon.com, Black Birko-Flor ( classic black leather ) and Graceful Pearl White ( shimmering ivory color ). I have been wearing them all summer and they're both still as new, so the quality is awesome. Definitely worth the investment! Check out the colors available here.

Are you a Fashion Minimalist?

What does it mean to be a fashion minimalist? At least for me, it's not about having less clothes to feel "lighter" and happier. I'm not embracing minimalism in that way. Honestly, I can picture myself having 5 items in the closet and wear it over and over again. Can you?

As I see it, a fashion minimalist is someone who's style is minimal classic. It's about monochrome outfits, leather, stripes, white shirts,... but not in a boring kind of way. A fashion minimalist plays with texture, wears dainty jewellery with chunky knits or a leopard scarf over a black outfit. It's like back to basic with a modern twist.

For a fashion minimalist, less is more. In an outfit, not in a closet!

Hope you had a nice Monday! Feel free to leave a comment, I would love to hear from you xx!
